Dusty blinds

So I love having a child old enough to understand the value of money. I am paying my 12 year old 1 dollar per blinds to clean and dust them on both sides. He is a sucker for money so he agreed. I don't think he realized how hard it is. I think I got the better end of the deal. Thanks for the idea Christy. I think I'll have to up the dollar amount for the windows. Spring is a great time to clean. Kath

Vacation can spoil you!

You know when you go out of town and there isn't as much to cleanup, you can get spoiled. Thanks for all the motivating posts because I'm looking at my dishes and want to cry. Maybe I should start with opening my blinds. On a side note, Liam's room looks great and I have 2 huge bags for the God Will. (funny name)

Ps. I'm up for another challenge. I know I'll win this time.(wink, wink)

slow

Hi everyone! I am so glad the sun is shining too! I am so excited the grass is turning mor green everyday and all of my daffodils are getting ready to bloom! I am feeling slow today I think because of our busy spring break but I am still trying to fly! So far I have cleaned my bathroom, made my bed, unloaded the dishwasher, taken the trash out, fed the cows, emptied two suitcases, put a load of laundry away and I've got more laundry going. Wow! Okay, maybe I'm not as slow as I feel! That totally helped to list what I have accomplished! I want to hear every little detail of what you all have done! Keep up the great work everyone!

Bring It On, Spring!

The kids are in school, the snow is melting, my bed is made and I feel energized. I hope you ladies are all feeling the same. I'm thinking we'll start a REAL challenge April 1st so if you know of anyone who wants to participate, let me know. We'll start counting points and everything. I'm feeling like I am going to have an amazing day today and get the house all taken care of now that my company is gone and the sun is out. Have a great day, ladies and let us all know how you're doing...

A great day for Christy

Today I was feeling a little frustrated at the extra mess a house full of kids can make. Julie encouraged me to have the kids help me complete my list. That's what I did and it worked surprisingly well. I showed the kiddos the list and let them choose what tasks they wanted to help do. My house is looking amazingly clean and I am feeling great. My neighbor family all stopped by unexpectedly and I was so happy to have a clean house and not be embarrassed at the tornado it can sometimes be. Hooray for flylady! Keep up the good work, ladies!

Wowee

I have been a slacker, ever since the contest ended, I promised myself I would keep doing it the same. But slowly, I quit doing one thing, then another, until I wasn't doing much of anything. So today I got my stuff back out (I actually used the concept in my lesson on Sunday) and today I am feeling great. I wasn't as far off track as I thought and within a short amount of time I feel like I am back in it. This is an inspired program. I am so glad to be doing it. The main reason I haven't posted is because I only had bad stuff to report. Keep Flying!

Spring Break!

Hello ladies! So this is the first time I've posted and I don't have anything to post really except that we are out of town for spring break so I haven't been "flying" lately. When I get back I will really get groovin'! I am excited to really get goin!

Decluttered the Trunk

Ok Ladies, you will laugh, but in February when I was decluttering EVERY stinkin' day I followed flylady's advice and took the "give away" pile out to my trunk. Well, then I never took it anywhere to donate so everything kept rolling around my trunk. It was so annoying because anytime I used my trunk I had to double check that I wasn't bringing the junk back in (with the groceries, for example.) If I had to put my stroller in there, it had to go on top of all the junk. Last week my husband went grocery shopping for me and a few days later I found a gallon of milk in a grocery sack from his trip mixed in among the junk. It was ridiculous. Well...I'm finally happy to say I found a good donations site that took all my donations yesterday and now my trunk is ready for my next go 'round. Only THIS time, I'll take them each time I'm near that store, instead of letting them pile up.

I will post. Still reading my scriptures and making my bed. Most of the rest I do half of it. When I want to.

I can do this... i think ??

It has taken me a few days to get all together, but now that I'm going I'm really loving it. Having the check list on the fridge is really helping. My oldest will come in and tell me "wow, you have done a lot," or "mom you really haven't done much" so that really keeps me on my toes. I can say that my house is already cleaner and calmer(if that is possible during spring break) and I love the fact that my bed is made everyday. SO full speed ahead...glad I'm doing it!

Time to Get Serious

OK Ladies, where are you??? I NEED YOU!! I need the motivation. Please start posting. If I see your posts, I will post too.
I FINALLY broke down and ordered the declutter kit from flylady's website tonight. I can't wait 'til it comes. Decluttering in February was making a HUGE difference and I haven't done it even once since we entered March. I'm hoping the kit will make it a little easier and keep me going. Hope to see your posts soon!!

First Day back was weaksauce

Got 55 points yesterday (thurs.) Its a madhouse here right now with 3 extra boys staying with us for the weekend. Today is my first "calm" day all week so I'm hoping today I can work my way down the list with little distraction. Boy, do I need it!

Kath Day whatever

The house is clean and I got full points today. I'm feeling good. Now it's off to warmer weather and some giant killers whales and other such marine animals. Have a great week.
Kath

Christy first day back

So I didn't get all my points but it feels soooo good to be back on the wagon. I actually de-cluttered Claire's dresser and took all the clothes out that don't fit. It will make it so much easier for me (and especially Ryan and the kids) to choose clothes for her in the morning. And it only took fifteen minutes. My goal is to work hard today (Thursday) and get my weekly home blessing hour done so I can start the weekend with a clean house, especially since the kids don't have school tomorrow. I've already got the dusting and vacuuming done. And I finally got almost caught up with my laundry too. I only have two more loads today and then I'll be back to a load (or so) a day and not let Mount Washmore (like Julie said) pile up again. I'm so glad to be doing flylady again before spring break when the kids are home all day and company comes. I'm going to stick with it and fly through spring break. Let me know how things are going with you.

I am so ready to fly. Where are all my flybuddies? I am officially starting tomorrow. Today was too hard. Plus I'm still a little weak from illness.

Brand New Day

Hi Ladies, old and new! I loved our February Challenge so much and I cannot understand why I fell off so badly once it ended. I still kept up a few things but I'm definitely not "flying" like I was. I have been thinking ALOT about the best way to do this. I think accountability is key. Where some of us have done it before, I want the playing field to be equal. I propose we let the newbies begin and the rest of us jump back in to posting every night (if possible) the amount of points we've earned throughout the day. I want it to be motivating but not overwhelming or taking away from the MOST important things: our families. When it was a competition, sometimes I did things at night to get my points when what I really wanted to do was snuggle up with my hubby and veg. Not that I'm against having it be a competition, but let's try just jumping back in and posting our points before we start up a challenge. That will give everyone a chance to do their best without feeling guilty. And it will give anyone new who wants to join a chance to become familiar with all the flylady stuff.

I'm going to send emails to those who previously participated and add some who specifically expressed interest. If you know of anyone else who wants to do it, the more the merrier! Just have them email me and I will add them as an author on the blog so they can post and also sign them up to receive emails. If you don't want to receive emails when a new post has been made, just let me know and I can take you off the list. Have I forgotten anything? Just jump in where you are (as Flylady says). You are never behind! Let's get flying!!!

When we feel ready for a challenge (with a prize involved), we can start one up and anyone who wants to can participate. Good luck, ladies! I can't wait to hear how it's going.

P.S. For the new ladies, here is the link to our first post which will give you the rundown of what our points list entails. If you have any questions, go to Flylady.net and go to the baby steps and it explains everything (or ask me if you can't find it). I will email you a list you can print off and put on your fridge to check off each day.

Fell Off the Wagon

I've fallen off the wagon...I have 4 loads of laundry to fold and put away. Mt. Washmore has attacked. I've been keeping up with getting dressed, making my bed and emptying the dishwasher, as well as a few 5 minute pick ups and 2 min. hot spots per day, but almost everything else has stopped. Ladies, I NEED YOU!! I need the motivation. Help!! Let's keep posting. . .

And so it goes...

Today I got 90 points. After 3 weeks of making dinner every night (even date night!! I'd make dinner for the kids, then we'd go out to eat) I treated the family to Pizza Hut. It was Delicious with a capital D. Before the challenge we'd eat out over any little thing. I'd have a bad day, or I didn't have food, or I just didn't "feel" like what I'd planned on. But during the challenge I realized those excuses still existed, I just didn't GIVE IN to them. Aha! I overpowered MYSELF and loved it. Tonight I gave myself a break and I also chose NOT to work out.
One more thing on the list of "things I learned" list. There were several nights that I was doing things for the challenge instead of spending the LITTLE time I have with my hubby. The downside of being so competitive. Next go 'round I won't do that. Its not worth it. Glad I realized it though and my hubby still loves me. Hope you are all still flying...keep posting...even though we're not really tracking.

oh yeah, and for Katherine, don't give up over spring break. My little 5 year old that was in HUGE trouble Friday night practically did my entire list on Saturday as punishment...only it was great because I was side by side with him and we got it all done and enjoyed each other's company. I killed 3 birds with one stone, (punishment, time spent together, got my own chores done!) The kids were home today too, so we did it again, only not as punishment, but as family time. Ha. It was great...AND I EVEN MOPPED MY FLOOR TODAY...so I should be done with my home blessing tomorrow!!!
